Free IELTS practice: find your starting point

The IELTS Quick Test introduces common question types across Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. Choose Academic or General Training and a target band, or select “Not sure”. You can try the test without creating an account and review your results before deciding what to practise next.

What does the Quick Test include?

Answer eight Listening questions and eight Reading questions across two short passages. Write a 100–130 word opinion response, then try a Speaking cue card with one minute to prepare and up to two minutes to speak. Writing and Speaking can be skipped; skipped skills are not assessed.

How long does it take?

Allow around 25–30 minutes for one attempt at all four skills, including checking and transitions. Listening takes about 4–5 minutes, Reading 6–8, Writing 7–9 and Speaking 4–5. Additional recordings and feedback processing add time.

Is this an official IELTS band score?

No. This short sample provides preliminary practice estimates, not an official IELTS result or a reliable prediction of exam-day performance. Writing and Speaking feedback is AI-generated using IELTS criteria where applicable. An overall estimate appears only when all four skills have sufficient assessed evidence.

What can I do with my feedback?

Review your answers and explanations, identify strengths and choose an improvement to practise. Continue with our Listening lessons, Reading lessons, Writing lessons or Speaking lessons.
